Taiwanese Three Cup Chicken 'San Bei Ji'... but without Shaoxing Chinese rice wine!
hrs: 0 | mins: 45
OPEN for ingredients! Three Cup Chicken or 'San Bei Ji' (三杯鸡) is a Taiwanese home-cooked dish that I've recently fallen in love with! The ingredients required are minimal, but the flavours are deliciously complex. It is also incredibly easy and quick to whip up and great served with rice!
The 'three cup' refers to a cup of Shaoxing chinese rice wine (Shao Hsing Hua Tiao Chiew), a cup of soya sauce and a cup of sesame oil... Though we most certainly do not need that much quantity for this recipe!
This recipe is different in that there is no use of Shaoxing Wine or any alcohol at all, making this a Halal dish. This is also perfect for those wanting to make this dish for children.
If you have no issues with using Shaoxing wine, then simply replace the chicken stock + apple juice with 2 tbsps of Shaoxing Wine. Apologies in advance for any mispronunciations - y'all I really tried :D
